Ilia has a variety of special attacks that have been enhanced by books of Secret Techniques. Ilia’s attacks are augmented by the book of Four Beasts, giving her the power of the four beasts of Chinese Mythology. These include the Phoenix (Phoenix Blast), Tiger (Tiger Claw), Dragon (Bluewyrm Strike) and Tortoise (Tortoise Smash). All these attacks are souped-up versions of her basic attacks; Meteor Palm, Avenging Fist, Palm of Destruction and Explosive Kick, respectively.
Ilia also has one special move, Divine Strike, that allows her to use a series of martial arts attacks in one long, devastating motion.
Power limitations:
As Ilia’s Secret Technique attacks are all pretty hax, I’m going to completely nerf them while she’s in Landel’s. Limiting her to her basic techniques will also make for a bigger challenge against the monsters that roam the institute.
As for the techniques she can use (Meteor Palm, Avenging Fist, Palm of Destruction and Explosive Kick) she’ll only be allowed to use them once or twice a night before becoming exhausted, leaving her with only her normal punches to keep her safe. Since Palm of Destruction requires her to center her ki energy, she’ll only be allowed to use this one once per night, and any others could be used up to two times, allowing her a max of three techniques per night. This number may fall to one or two techniques per night if she becomes injured. She will not be able to use any techniques if she suffers from the effects of a sedation.
Non-otherworldly abilities:
Ilia is trained in martial combat as a part of her military training. She’s rather advanced in hand-to-hand combat and knows a few special attacks that she learned naturally throughout the course of the game. These include Meteor Palm (a downward strike after a leap), Explosive Kick (a rolling handstand followed by a downwards kick), Avenging Fist (a series of quick jabs) and Palm of Destruction (a concentrated blast of ki energy that can hit enemies up to a distance of about three meters before her). Her training has made her rather agile and flexible. Her weapon of choice is brass knuckles. She also has used jumping kicks to wound flying enemies.
Until Ilia nabs herself a pair of brass knuckles, her attacks will be much weaker against enemies with thick skin, shells, armor, etc. As far as enemies with normal flesh and bones, she will have more chance of breaking bones with her attacks. The attacks of Meteor Palm and Explosive Kick, since they are aimed higher, will be aimed towards the head/shoulder area, which can cause some major damage but these attacks are also easily deflected or avoided. Avenging Fist will cause lighter damage and is aimed mainly between the torso and face. Because there are many hits, they cannot so easily be dodged. However, unless the monster is without armor, she won’t be able to break bones. Palm of Destruction is a little different. While it can do a decent amount of damage in close range, it will lose its strength the farther it travels. Up close, the blast will be able to even bend armor and will cause heavy damage to the target, like a sledge hammer to the gut. However, if the energy hits the enemy at the edge of its striking range, it is likely to only feel like a push. If the enemy happens to be heavy or well-armored, it won’t be able to push it back even as much as a full step. Palm of Destruction also has one big weakness. Since Ilia must take a moment to gather her ki before unleashing it she won’t be able to move, leaving her open for attack, so a close hit with Palm of Destruction will be rare.
It’s only fair to mention that she’s probably had training with other weapons like guns, but she prefers to use her fists.
Ilia is a scientist at heart and has a healthy curiosity about foreign worlds and their customs. In canon, she has been seen looking at all things in the most logical way possible. She has a hard time believing in gods or magic—in her mind, everything should have some scientific reasoning behind it, even Heraldry.
As for her innate talents, Ilia also has a great sense of taste and can cook fairly well if given the proper ingredients. She can write very well (though her writing tends to be either “sophisticated” fiction or manuals), and she has a good grasp on design which adds to her proficiency in painting and sculpting.
Last, but not least, Ilia can handle her liquor. No joke, she can even drink big men like Cyuss and Ashlay under the table. She takes her liquor very seriously too, almost to a snobby extent. Booze is serious business.
